THE GÖTEBORG OPERA AB IS LOOKING FOR AN ASSISTANT ORCHESTRA MANAGER

The Göteborg Opera's orchestra consists of 86 musicians and plays in most of the performances on the big stage. The orchestra department consists of the orchestra, orchestral stage managers, orchestra manager and assistant orchestra manager.

If you are well versed in how an orchestra functions, have good leadership qualities and dream of being part of our orchestral team, you might be the person we are looking for.

About the role

In your role you will assist the orchestra manager with strategic and operational work which will include personnel-, work environment- and budget planning. Together with the orchestra manager, you ensure that the orchestra is optimally staffed and functioning well as a group. You contribute actively to the Göteborg Opera's vision and mission. The role is one of two senior positions that form the orchestral leadership  and you and the orchestra manager will further develope this role together. You report to the orchestra manager and are part of the Opera / Drama management group.

Responsibilities

  • Work management and strategic development work
  • Recruitment, planning and staffing
  • Detailed planning of services for specific instrument groups
  • Systematic monitoring of the work environment, individual development talks, rehabilitation etc.
  • Budget monitoring
  • Represent the employer in negotiations and trade union cooperation
  • Member of Opera / Drama's management team
  • Contracts and other administration

Who are you?

To succeed in this role you have both experience and a great interest in working in this area.  You should also have experience with staff-intensive high-performance operations. You are used to working  systematically with the work environment and to collaborate and communicate with larger groups. As a person you are structured and determined, communicative, clear, motivated and responsive. Good communicative ability combined with a genuine interest in people and a humble attitude are particular qualities we are looking for. As this assignment contains both long-term strategic development work as well as detailed planning, high demands are placed on your flexibility. You as a person should be prestigeless, enduring and secure. You have a relevant college/university education. It is a merit if you have a musical education and leadership training as well as a wide contact network.

As we work in an international environment, you should have a good knowledge of English, both in speech and writing.

You are used to Office 365.

The employment

The employment is a full-time permanent position with an initial probationary period of 6 months. Work on evenings and weekends occurs. Accesse May 1, 2020 or by arrangement. Location Gothenburg.
