Sopranos to the Göteborg Opera ladies Chorus 

The chorus consists of 46 professional singers and performs in most of our opera productions as well as concerts. Members of the chorus are regularly used for smaller solo parts and are occasionally given the opportunity to cover lead roles. We consider drama and movement to be important elements of the chorus' work.

The Göteborg Opera wish to employ two singers for the ladies chorus: a high soprano with a coloratura as well as a soprano with ability to perform in both our 1st and 2nd soprano voice group. Both positions are permanent contracts and starts with a probationary year from 1st of July 2019.

Qualifications required: Higher education from Music or Opera Academy or equivalent. Our working languages are Swedish and English. If you have stage experience from musical theatre, it´s considered a merit. Audition, by personal invitation, will take place on March 4th, 2019. Selected candidates will receive detailed information about the audition, and the audition procedure by the 18th of February 2019, at the latest.

For the audition we would like you to prepare:

One mandatory aria from memory (see ad on opera.se) One aria of your choice (in another language than the selected mandatory aria) -(attach the sheet music to the application as a pdf or send by mail/e-mail) Chorus excerpt (to be performed in quartet with members of the Opera chorus, sheet music allowed - the sheet music will be sent to you together with the invitation, appr. two weeks before the audition) A solfeggio exercise to listen to the range of the voice
